Yes — PJL Land Services is fully licensed and insured. We're also a certified Hydrawise installer, trained directly by Hunter Industries. You can have complete confidence in the quality and safety of our work.
Yes — we work on both residential and commercial properties throughout the GTA. Whether it's a small residential backyard or a large commercial landscape, we have the experience and equipment to get the job done right.
We'll always be honest with you. During a diagnosis visit, we assess the full system and give you a clear recommendation. Most systems can be repaired rather than replaced — we'll only suggest replacement when it's genuinely the most cost-effective long-term option for you.
All our systems are installed with Hydrawise WiFi smart controllers by Hunter Industries — the same technology used by professional irrigation companies worldwide. These automatically adjust watering schedules based on real-time weather data, saving water and keeping your lawn healthier with zero effort from you. This is included as standard in every installation, not an add-on.
Each irrigation zone typically covers 2,000–2,500 sq ft of lawn area. Most residential properties require between 3–6 zones depending on the size, shape, and complexity of the landscape. We'll assess your property during a free consultation and recommend the exact number of zones needed for full, efficient coverage.
Minimal disruption. We use a vibratory plow that pulls pipe through a narrow slit in the lawn rather than digging an open trench — most properties show very little sign of the install within 2–3 weeks. Around mature trees and hardscape we hand-dig to protect roots and existing surfaces. Every connection is pressure-tested before we close the lawn.
Yes — this is one of our most popular services. Hydrawise smart controllers are compatible with most existing irrigation systems, regardless of brand. We can retrofit your existing system with a Hydrawise controller, giving you remote access, weather-based scheduling, and flow monitoring without replacing the entire system.
Yes — drip is one of our specialties. RainBird XFD dripline for typical bed runs, Hunter HDL for tree-zone rings and longer subsurface runs. Both are pressure-compensating and field-repairable. Drip can be added as a new zone on an existing system or built into a new install. See our drip irrigation page for the full breakdown.
Run zones manually, skip a watering when rain is forecast, adjust schedules from anywhere, see exactly when each zone last ran. Predictive Watering pulls your local forecast and skips or shortens cycles before storms. Flow monitoring catches a broken head or stuck valve early. All from one account on your phone — no shared logins.
Yes — frost-free hose bib install is a $175 add-on offered alongside any new sprinkler installation. Frost-free means the shut-off sits inside the heated wall envelope, so the bib drains itself in fall and won't crack in a freeze. Done while we're already trenching — no second mobilization fee.
Yes — pop-up heads retract flush with the ground when the zone isn't running, so a dog sprinting across the lawn doesn't catch them. Rotor heads sit slightly proud (~1") and are durable, but we plan zone layouts around heavy paw-traffic where possible. (Plenty of dogs have lost to our sprinklers and come back for round two — there's video on the home page.)
Absolutely — in Ontario's climate, a professional fall closing is essential. When temperatures drop below freezing, any water left in your irrigation pipes and heads can expand, crack pipes, and damage fittings. A proper blow-out with our commercial compressor removes all water from the system, protecting your investment through the winter.
Not included: backflow assembly testing or certification. That's a regulated Ontario certification we don't hold — if your municipality requires it, we'll refer you to a certified backflow tester.
In the Newmarket and GTA area, the safe window for spring openings is typically mid-April through May, once overnight temperatures are consistently staying above freezing. We recommend booking in early spring — our schedule fills up quickly every year and we want to make sure you get your preferred date.
Our spring opening includes: slowly pressurizing the system to check for leaks or winter damage, running each zone individually to inspect all heads, adjusting spray patterns and arc settings for full coverage, programming your Hydrawise controller for the current season, and identifying any repairs needed. We leave with everything running perfectly and your Hydrawise app set up for the season.
Not included: backflow assembly testing or certification. That's a regulated Ontario certification we don't hold — if your municipality requires it, we'll refer you to a certified backflow tester.
We recommend booking your fall closing for October, before the first hard frost. Waiting too long risks freeze damage. As with spring openings, our fall schedule fills up quickly — book early to secure your spot.
Yes — we winterize systems we didn't install, regardless of brand. Pricing scales by zone count: $90 (up to 4 zones), $95 (up to 6), $120 (up to 8), $145 (up to 15). Note: backflow assembly testing and certification is a separate certified service we don't perform — if your municipality requires it, we'll refer you to a certified backflow tester.
Yes — we design and install complete custom lighting systems. Every project starts with a free design consultation where we walk your property, discuss your goals and budget, and create a custom lighting plan. You'll see the full design before we install a single fixture.
Marine-grade IP65+ LED fixtures rated for Canadian winters — brass or cast-aluminum bodies, integrated LED or replaceable lamp depending on application, paired with a properly-sized transformer and 12 AWG low-voltage cable. They use a fraction of the energy of older halogen systems, last 10–15 years, and produce warmer, more pleasant light. Components built to outlast their warranty.
A typical 12–15 fixture residential install is completed in a single day. Larger properties or more complex multi-zone designs run 2–3 days. Every install also includes a separate after-dark walk-through (same evening or the next clear night) so we can re-aim every fixture under real lighting conditions — the only time you can actually see what the system looks like. We'll give you a clear timeline at the consultation.
Pricing follows a 3-tier system. Tier 1 (1-4 zones): $585 base + $549 per zone, instant-quoted via our calculator. Tier 2 (5-7 zones): $749 base + $549 per zone, instant-quoted. Tier 3 (8+ zones): site visit and drawings required, custom-quoted. Use our online estimator for a 2-minute quote, or book a free on-site consultation for larger systems. Calculator pricing assumes standard residential conditions; final quote confirmed during the free on-site assessment based on soil, access, and any property-specific complications.
Landscape lighting is priced at $245 per professionally installed fixture, which includes wiring, transformer sizing, and full setup. The number of fixtures depends on your property and design preferences — most residential projects range from 6 to 20+ fixtures. Use our estimator for a quick ballpark or book a free consultation.
Two separate guarantees, depending on the work:
Yes — customers who install both a sprinkler system and landscape lighting together receive 15% off both services. One crew, one visit, and significant savings. Ask about bundle pricing during your free consultation or use our online estimator to see the bundle discount applied automatically.
Two instant-quote tiers and a third for larger systems. Tier 1 (1-4 zones): $585 base + $549/zone — Hunter Hydrawise smart controller, pressure-regulated heads, low-pressure nozzles, and full system walkthrough all included. Tier 2 (5-7 zones): $749 base + $549/zone — same kit, larger controller (HPC-400 + PCM-300). Tier 3 (8+ zones): custom quote with a site visit. The calculator displays a -8%/+5% range to set expectations; final quote is confirmed during the free on-site assessment based on soil, access, and any property-specific complications. Every install is backed by our 3-year parts and labour warranty.
