Thornhill straddles the Vaughan–Markham line with some of the GTA's most established landscaping — and a strong appetite for premium landscape lighting alongside the irrigation. Installs, repair, seasonal service, Hydrawise smart upgrades and lighting, published pricing, 3-year warranty.
Time to wake the system up. We slow-pressurize the mainline, test every zone, check heads and nozzles, and program the controller for the season — a full system start-up before we leave.
Spring openings from $90 (1–4 zones)
Stuck valves, broken heads, mystery wet spots, pressure drops, a controller that's lost the plot — this is prime time to fix it before the summer heat exposes it. Thornhill gets same-day repair slots in season for addresses booked before 11 AM, subject to availability.
$95 service call + parts & labour
One hard frost on a system full of water cracks fittings, valves and backflow devices. We run a pro low-pressure compressor blow-out — every lateral and the mainline emptied — before the freeze hits. Book by mid-October.
Fall closings from $90 (1–4 zones)
Thornhill is one of the older, more established communities in York Region, split between the Vaughan side (Thornhill Woods, Bayview Glen) and the Markham side (German Mills, Thornlea, Doncrest). The lots are mature, the landscaping is often decades in the making, and the standard for how a system should look is high.
That maturity is why Thornhill is one of our strongest landscape-lighting markets: homeowners who've invested in the garden want it lit properly, and pairing a low-voltage LED lighting design with the irrigation on one visit is efficient. On the irrigation side, older Thornhill systems are prime retrofit candidates — new heads, new valves, and a Hydrawise brain.
Because Thornhill lots tend to have mature, designed gardens, a lot of our work here pairs a sprinkler service or retrofit with a low-voltage LED lighting design — path, accent and downlighting run off a separate transformer, planned alongside the irrigation zones so trenching and cabling are done once. It's the same crew, one site visit, and a garden that looks as good at night as it does watered.

$95 service call + parts & labourDesigned for the lot, not from a template. Hunter heads, Hunter HPC-400 Hydrawise smart controller standard. Mature Thornhill lots often pair irrigation with a lighting design.
Calculator pricing by zone countRetrofit your existing system with the Hunter HPC-400 Hydrawise WiFi controller. App control, predictive weather-skipping, wiring-fault alerts. Typical install under 90 minutes.
From $595 (1-4 zones) ↓Long hedge runs, perennial beds, raised vegetable beds, container plantings. Designed as a separate zone off your main controller.
Custom quote by run length
Most Thornhill systems we service run controllers that pre-date WiFi. Swap the old timer for a Hunter HPC-400 Hydrawise and the system starts thinking for itself — typical install runs under 90 minutes, and generic-timer households typically cut seasonal watering 30–40%.
We publish pricing because trust starts before the call. Spring openings and fall closings are flat-rate services covering the system check and standard adjustments (alignment, arc, rotation — head replacement is a separate repair line). Any repairs needed are flagged on-site, quoted separately, and only carried out after your approval.

Every spring opening across Thornhill includes a full system check before we leave the property:
Backflow testing is a separately-licensed trade in Ontario. PJL does not service backflow assemblies but can refer you to a certified tester if yours needs annual recertification.
In Thornhill, the safe window for spring opening is typically the second week of April through mid-May, after the last hard frost. Opening too early risks freeze damage to backflow assemblies and exposed risers. We start booking in late March and prioritize repeat customers first — book early to lock in your preferred week.
Our service call (mobilization + on-site assessment) is $95. Repair labour is billed at $95 from there. Common parts costs: sprinkler head replacement $68, pipe break repair from $120, full 3-valve manifold rebuild starting at $135 plus valves. If our AI-Smart-Intake diagnostic tool correctly predicts the fix, you get one hour of repair labour free on the diagnosed work — our only standing discount.
Yes — during the active irrigation season (mid-April to mid-October), we hold same-day repair slots for Thornhill addresses booked before 11 AM, subject to availability. Most Thornhill calls land within 4–6 hours of dispatch.
Thornhill straddles two York Region municipalities — properties west of Yonge Street are inside Vaughan, properties east are inside Markham — and the bylaws differ slightly. Vaughan permits watering 6 a.m.–9 a.m. and 6 p.m.–9 p.m. on odd/even days matching your house number (May 15 to September 30). Markham permits either 6 a.m.–9 a.m. OR 6 p.m.–9 p.m. (not both) on odd/even days, June 1 to September 30. Both follow the odd/even house-number rule. We confirm which side of Yonge you're on during spring opening and program the controller accordingly.
The Ontario frost line in York Region is approximately 1.2 metres (4 feet), but irrigation lines don't need to be buried that deep — they're drained and pressurized only during the warm months. PJL buries mainlines 8–12 inches deep and laterals 6–8 inches deep, which is standard for the GTA. Fall winterization (compressor blowout) is what protects them from freeze damage, not depth.
