Mature-property irrigation and premium landscape lighting design across Thornhill — both the Vaughan and Markham sides of Yonge. Old Thornhill, Thornhill Woods, Royal Orchard, German Mills, Bayview Glen and the surrounding established residential streets. Hydrawise smart sprinklers, custom LED lighting, 3-year warranty.
Thornhill is unusual in our service area because it isn't a single municipality — it spans both Vaughan (west of Yonge) and Markham (east of Yonge), and is one of the most architecturally established neighbourhoods in York Region. Heritage streetscapes in Old Thornhill, curated landscapes in Royal Orchard, upscale custom builds in Thornhill Woods, mature-tree mid-century streets in German Mills and Bayview Glen.
That means a templated install doesn't work here. Mature trees create shade zones that need different watering than open lawn. Heritage hardscape limits where we can trench. Established planting beds need drip lines that respect the existing root systems. Premium architecture demands lighting design that complements, not overwhelms.
PJL has installed and serviced systems across Thornhill since 2015 — founder-led (not a franchise), Hunter Hydrawise certified, fully licensed and insured. 3-year warranty on every install.
The combination of mature-tree canopy, established hardscape and premium architecture means Thornhill properties benefit more from thoughtful lighting than almost any other neighbourhood in our service area. Architectural uplighting on heritage facades. Path lighting through mature gardens. Downlighting from existing trees. The infrastructure is already there — good lighting design just shows it off properly.
Every service below is available across Thornhill on both the Vaughan and Markham sides. Same-day emergency repair always available during season — typical response 4–6 hours.

Backflow testing is a separately-licensed trade in Ontario. PJL does not service backflow assemblies but can refer you to a certified tester if yours needs annual recertification.
In Thornhill, the safe window for spring opening is typically the second week of April through mid-May, after the last hard frost. Opening too early risks freeze damage to backflow assemblies and exposed risers. We start booking in late March and prioritize repeat customers first — book early to lock in your preferred week.
Our service call (mobilization + on-site assessment) is $95. Repair labour is billed at $95 from there. Common parts costs: sprinkler head replacement $68, pipe break repair from $120, full 3-valve manifold rebuild starting at $135 plus valves. If our AI-Smart-Intake diagnostic tool correctly predicts the fix, you get one hour of repair labour free on the diagnosed work — our only standing discount.
Yes — during the active irrigation season (mid-April to mid-October), we hold same-day repair slots for Thornhill addresses booked before 11 AM, subject to availability. Most Thornhill calls land within 4–6 hours of dispatch.
Thornhill straddles two York Region municipalities — properties west of Yonge Street are inside Vaughan, properties east are inside Markham — and the bylaws differ slightly. Vaughan permits watering 6 a.m.–9 a.m. and 6 p.m.–9 p.m. on odd/even days matching your house number (May 15 to September 30). Markham permits either 6 a.m.–9 a.m. OR 6 p.m.–9 p.m. (not both) on odd/even days, June 1 to September 30. Both follow the odd/even house-number rule. We confirm which side of Yonge you're on during spring opening and program the controller accordingly.
The Ontario frost line in York Region is approximately 1.2 metres (4 feet), but irrigation lines don't need to be buried that deep — they're drained and pressurized only during the warm months. PJL buries mainlines 8–12 inches deep and laterals 6–8 inches deep, which is standard for the GTA. Fall winterization (compressor blowout) is what protects them from freeze damage, not depth.
