Most irrigation contractors hide pricing behind "every job is different." We don't. Here are our locked rates for the work that 95% of customers actually call us about — sprinkler repair, valve work, controller swaps, wire diagnostics, seasonal services. Plus the math we use to quote on the spot.
Every repair visit starts with a service call. It covers our travel to your property and a quick on-site assessment of the issue. Diagnostic and repair labour is billed separately at $95/hr. When we quote a repair, we estimate a reasonable amount of time for the work — if the actual repair runs longer than that estimate, additional labour is billed at $95/hr and quoted to you on the spot before we continue.

Service call is NOT charged on Spring Openings or Fall Winterizations — those are bundled services with the full opening or winterization visit included (typical 30-90 min depending on tier).
The only discount PJL offers: if you describe your issue through the AI intake and the on-site diagnosis matches what the AI predicted, you get one hour of repair labour free on the diagnosed work — that's a $95 saving. If the AI's diagnosis is wrong, no free hour applies. Anything else discovered on-site (a separate problem we find while there) is billed at parts + $95/hr labour, quoted before any extra work begins.

One controller, three tiers — by zone count. Pricing includes the Hunter HPC-400 base, the appropriate PCM expansion module(s) for your zone count, WiFi connection, full schedule programming, and a walk-through. Plus the $95 service call. Spring openings and fall winterizations are flat-rate services covering the system check and standard adjustments (alignment, arc, rotation — head replacement is a separate repair line). The $95 service call is not charged on top of the seasonal flat rate. Spring and fall use the same tier structure. Beyond 15 zones (or any unusual property — large estates, multi-controller systems, complex commercial) is a custom quote, typically given on a quick site visit or based on photos and zone count.

Some work is too variable to flat-rate fairly. For these, we'll either quote on-site after a quick visit or based on photos and a description through the contact form.
Ontario regulates backflow testing and certification, and the work requires a certified backflow tester. PJL does not hold that certification. If your backflow assembly needs testing, certification, or service work, we'll refer you to a certified tester in your area. Visual checks of the backflow assembly during spring openings and fall winterizations are included — but we won't open, test, or sign off on the device itself.
One important disclaimer: these are our standard locked rates and they cover the vast majority of work we do. Genuinely unusual situations (badly damaged systems, hard-to-reach valve boxes, multi-controller commercial sites, drought-stage emergency repair conditions) may need on-site assessment to quote properly. We'll always quote the variation upfront before starting work — never on the invoice.
