Erin and Hillsburgh sit in the foothills of the Niagara Escarpment in Wellington County — equestrian country, 3-25 acre lifestyle properties, century farmhouses on country roads. The irrigation problem here is nothing like a city subdivision: most properties are on private wells, lots are big enough that overhead spray alone is rarely the right answer, and frost lines run deeper than they do down on the lake plain. A system designed for an Aurora subdivision will fail in Erin within two seasons.
PJL Land Services has active customers across Erin and runs the corridor on a scheduled regional route — Bolton, Caledon, Erin — typically one or two days per week during the season. In Erin, the safe window for spring opening is typically the third week of April through late May, after the last hard frost — a touch later than the GTA proper because the Headwaters area runs a little colder and risks frost further into the month. We batch Erin onto regional route days — book early in March to lock in your preferred week.

Erin sits on a scheduled weekly Wellington County route, so same-day is not the default — we batch Erin repairs onto scheduled route days. For an active leak we'll do everything possible to get out the same week. Book 1-2 weeks ahead for non-urgent repairs to ride a regular Wellington County route.
The Town of Erin's Lawn and Garden Watering By-law (#98-14) restricts municipal water for outdoor use to assigned days and times. Even-numbered addresses may water on even calendar days only, odd on odd; the permitted windows are 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The rules apply to lawns, gardens, vehicle washing, and pool filling. We program controllers to comply — and note that properties on private wells fall outside the municipal bylaw.
The Ontario frost line is approximately 1.2 metres (4 feet), but irrigation lines don't need to be buried that deep — they're drained and pressurized only during the warm months. PJL buries mainlines 8–12 inches deep and laterals 6–8 inches deep, which is standard for southern Ontario. Fall winterization (compressor blowout) is what protects them from freeze damage, not depth.
