Plan First · Written Design · No Surprises

How a PJL project — actually runs.

From the first phone call through the install-day walk-through, every PJL project follows the same shape: free site assessment, written design before any digging, fixed quote, scheduled install, hands-on walk-through. No vague "we'll figure it out on site." No surprise change orders. Patrick Lalande oversees the project end to end — direct accountability from quote through year-three warranty.

📋 Free site assessment 📐 Written design before any digging 🛠️ Direct accountability on every project

Three principles, three different projects.

Whether you're getting a full sprinkler system installed, a landscape lighting design done, or a same-day service call, the underlying approach is the same. Plan it once, install it right, walk through it with you, and back the work up afterward.

1

Plan it once, install it right

The cost of changing the plan goes up by 10× the moment a shovel hits dirt. So we plan first — zone layout, hydraulic design, fixture placement, future-proofing — on paper, before we quote. By install day, every decision is made.

2

Written design before any digging

Every project has a written design and a written quote, both reviewed with you, both signed off before install day is scheduled. No "starting at" pricing. No verbal scope. No surprise change orders that turn a $4,000 quote into a $5,800 invoice.

3

Founder-led, end to end

Patrick Lalande oversees every project. The person who answered your call walks the site, draws the design, runs install day, hands off the system, and answers warranty calls in year three. No sales-rep handoff cycle, no franchise routing.

The single biggest source of friction in residential irrigation and lighting projects is the moment when "what was discussed at the consultation" doesn't match "what's actually getting installed." We removed that gap by writing the design down and reviewing it with you before any quote is final.
🛠️ Track 1 · New Sprinkler Installation Typical timeline: 2-4 weeks from first call · 1 day on install

How a new sprinkler install runs.

Same flow on every project. No surprises, no improvising, no "we'll figure that out on site."

1

Free site assessment

Free on-site visit. We measure flow and pressure at the supply, walk the property, talk through your landscape and any future plans.

⏱️ 45-60 min · Booked within 1 week
2

Zone & hydraulic design

Zone layout, head selection, runtimes and pipe path designed on paper. You see the design and approve it before any quote is issued.

⏱️ 3-5 business days post-visit
3

Future-planning pass

Sleeves, stub-outs, capped lines and chases for whatever you mentioned at the visit. Built into the quote, not added later as change orders.

📐 Built into the design
4

Written quote

Fixed price — not "starting at." Includes parts, labour, controller, warranty, and the future-planning items above. You review and sign off.

📋 Sent with design
5

Install day

Vibratory plow for clean trenching with minimal lawn disruption. Hand-dig around mature trees and hardscape. Components installed to spec, every connection pressure-tested before we close it.

⏱️ 1 day (typical 6-zone) · Scheduled 2-3 weeks out
6

Controller setup

Hydrawise programmed for your zones, soil and the local Newmarket / GTA forecast. Walk-through on the app, schedule built per zone, weather-skipping enabled.

⏱️ 30-45 min · Same day as install
7

Testing & walk-through

Every zone tested live, every head adjusted for full coverage and zero overspray. We walk the system with you, hand off documentation, confirm everything works.

⏱️ 30-45 min · End of install day
🛡️

Backed by a 3-year parts & labour warranty

Industry standard is 1 year, often parts only. Our 3-year warranty covers the parts AND the labour to diagnose and replace them. See full warranty details.

💡 Track 2 · Landscape Lighting Typical timeline: 2-4 weeks · After-dark walk-through required

How a landscape lighting project runs.

Lighting is harder than irrigation — you can't see it work in daylight, fixture placement is half the design, and the only real test happens after dark. The process reflects that.

1

Daylight site assessment

Walk the property in daylight. Identify focal points (architectural features, trees, garden beds), pathways, security concerns, and existing landscape elements. Discuss style preferences.

⏱️ 45-60 min · Free · Booked within 1 week
2

Lighting design

Fixture placement plan, beam-angle and lumen specs per fixture, transformer sizing, voltage-drop calculations across the runs. You see the plan and approve before quoting.

⏱️ 5-7 business days post-visit
3

Fixture & transformer spec

Brass / cast-aluminum fixtures, integrated LED or replaceable lamp depending on application, properly-sized transformer, 12 AWG low-voltage cable. Components built to outlast their warranty.

📐 Built into the design
4

Written quote

Fixed price covering fixtures, transformer, low-voltage cable, all installation labour, after-dark walk-through, and warranty. No "starting at." No fixture upcharges hidden in fine print.

📋 Sent with design
5

Install day

Low-voltage cable run via shallow trench (no vibratory plow needed for lighting), fixtures placed per design, transformer mounted at the supply, every connection waterproofed and pressure-tested.

⏱️ 1 day (typical 12-15 fixture install)
6

After-dark walk-through

We come back after sunset on install day or the next clear evening. Re-aim every fixture under real lighting conditions — the only time you can see what the system actually looks like. Shadows, glare, hot spots, missed coverage all corrected on the spot.

⏱️ 30-60 min after sunset · Required
The after-dark walk-through is non-negotiable. Lighting installed and aimed in daylight is guaranteed to be wrong somewhere — too much glare here, missed feature there. The 30 minutes after sunset is where a "decent" install becomes a great one.
🔧 Track 3 · Sprinkler Repair / Service Call Typical timeline: same-day or next-day · Most fixes single visit

How a service or repair call runs.

Repairs are reactive, not planned — you call because something's wrong. The process is shorter and faster, but the same documentation discipline applies.

1

Call or AI intake

Phone (905) 960-0181 or use the AI repair intake on the website. Describe the symptom — head not popping up, zone not running, controller offline, leak, brown patch.

⏱️ 5-10 min · AI-intake bonus: correct diagnosis = 1 hr labour free
2

Same-day diagnosis

Visit booked same-day or next-day in season. We walk the system, identify the failure, and quote the repair on-site before any work starts.

⏱️ 30-60 min on-site
3

Repair on the spot

Most repairs are completed in the same visit — replacement heads and valves, splice repairs, controller swaps, wiring fixes, programming. Larger work scheduled within 3-5 days.

⏱️ Most fixes 1 visit
4

1-year guarantee

Every repair we complete is backed by a 1-year parts and labour guarantee on the work performed. If it fails inside 12 months, we come back at no charge.

🛡️ Documented on the invoice

Same flow for spring openings (pressure-up, leak check, Hydrawise re-program) and fall winterizations (compressor blow-out, controller suspended) — scheduled seasonal visits, single morning slot, in-and-out.

What the timeline looks like.

For a typical residential install — sprinkler or lighting — here's what to expect from first call to working system.

Day 0
First call
5-minute conversation about your property and what you're after.
Days 1-7
Site assessment
Free on-site visit, 45-60 minutes, booked at your convenience.
Days 7-12
Written design & quote
3-5 business days for sprinklers, 5-7 for lighting design.
Day 14-21
Sign-off & schedule
You review and approve. Install date booked 2-3 weeks out (varies seasonally).
Install day
System installed
1 day for typical residential. Walk-through end-of-day for sprinklers, after-dark for lighting.

Faster turnarounds are possible in shoulder seasons (October-March) when the schedule is open. Peak season (May-August) tends toward the slower end of these ranges.
